Why Jon “had” to die

Jon is a very guilt-driven character. Why? Maybe it started with him wanting Winterfell and knowing that it couldn’t be his unless all his siblings died. Maybe there’s some subconscious guilt related to the death of his mother. Maybe it has to do with the way Cat treated him. Maybe all the above. Guilt is... Continue Reading →

Do you know the story of Bael and the Bard? It’s about a Stark bastard being born of a wildling man and a Stark woman who grows up to be lord of Winterfell. This mirrors Jon’s story. And to be accepted as a true Stark he must marry a Stark woman. And that will be his cousin Sansa. She’s referred to as a the key to the north many times and since Jon and her weren’t close as children it will be easier for them to get married. Jonsa is coming.

oadara: lyastark: oadara: oadara: Hello anon,Yes, I am familiar with the tail. However, I’m not familiar with the part where the Stark bastard has to marry a Stark woman in order to become Lord of Winterfell. You see, Jon already has achieved whatever parallel he shared with the Bael the Barb story. He was a “Stark bastard” who went... Continue Reading →

Is this a rant or an argument?

Because if it’s an argument, it’s not very convincing. To lay it out briefly: what happens ON the Wall is Stannis’s (or Dany’s) business. What happens BEYOND the Wall isn’t Stannis (nor Dany’s) business. The lands beyond the Wall aren’t part of the realm, so Stannis/Dany aren’t duty-bound to interfere. If we’re going to use the... Sansa and Persephone

oldghiscari: Mythology tropes repeat themselves again and again in literature. Myths are the bricks of our contemporary storytelling, and GRRM is aware of that. In ASOIAF, many relations can be made with various mythologies, mostly mediterranean, celtic and scandinavian ones. This text focuses on Sansa and the greek myth of Persephone’s rape. Keep in mind, though,... Continue Reading →

repeat-script: GoT 2x10 rewatch I caught a rerun of the last episode of season two on sky, and one scene stood out to me. In it, Brienne, along with her prisoner Jaime, come across the bodies of three women, hanged for consorting with Lannister soldiers. The Northern soldiers who did the deed soon appear, unapologetic,... Continue Reading →

“Just the king in the North? Not me?”

Just an idea I’ve had for awhile about Dany’s inner thoughts as she said that to Cersei in 7x07… I mean… Cersei’s answer (”I’d never ask it of you… you would never agree to it”) would normally go without saying, right? Why would Dany agree to stay in Westeros and risk everything to fight the... Continue Reading →

On the matter of PoliticalJ0n and misogyny

Would such a scenario indeed be considered sexist and/or misogynist?  Let’s - hypothetically - say that the PJ stans were right, that Jon could see no other way to get Daenerys Targaryen North, was desperate and chose the survival of humanity over the feelings of a girl. So he ate some of Davos’s fermented crab... Continue Reading →

“Dany keep abandoning her people”

My poor @strickland527, I’ve seen you engage in an unfortunate “discussion” with shinynewrevulsion thingy. A fascinating study of Dany hate, that fella. What did she tell you? That Dany was notorious for “abandoning” her people? How lovely. I would’ve answered her directly, but alas, it appears I’m on her blocklist (I recall she even turned that into... Continue Reading →
